WestonGOV Academy

Finance and Budget Day

At last week's session of WestonGOV Academy, members participated in a tabletop budget board game scenario whereby they are the Commission and must balance the budget while real-world events impact their budget decisions. Balancing the budget isn’t easy when issues like storm cleanups and state mandates are thrown into the mix. The evening spent with Finance and Budget provided some excellent insight into how the City of Weston funds the annual budget and where the funds are spent.

Summer is Here!

Camp Options for Your Child

Keeping your kids entertained and active has become easier with the YMCA Summer Camp and other sports league camps in Weston.

The Weston YMCA Summer Camp, for ages five through 12, will enjoy arts and crafts, songs, games, YFIT, swimming and character value development. For ages 12 to 15, the Leadership in Training camp is a great option. The camp focuses on helping teens develop leadership skills, team building and community service projects while also participating in traditional day camp activities. Campers ages 13 through 17 have the unique opportunity for fun through field trips and special activities such as attending a Marlins game or visiting Zoo Miami in the Camp Y Adventure Tripper Camp.

If the YMCA camp is not right for your child, check out sports camps in Weston where kids can enjoy playing and developing their skills in baseball, soccer, tackle football, cheer, tennis and more.

If your child is not into sports but is interested in robotics or wants to get started, the VEX-IQ Robotics Summer Camp at the Weston Community Center is the right place for them.
