DEP ENCOURAGES FLORIDIANS TO TAKE PART IN DEA DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY ON SATURDAY
~Proper disposal of unwanted medicine prevents abuse, environmental harm~
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Envrionmental Protection is encouraging Florida residents to seek out a local collection site this Saturday, April 27 during the Federal Drug Enforcement Aminstration's National Prescription Take-Back Initiative.
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.
The Department's South District staff will participate by assisting at the collection site at the Naples Recycling Center, 2640 West Enterprise Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is one of 10 collection sites in the Naples area.
Local sheriff offices and police departments have volunteered throughout the state to hold collection events at their facilities. For many Florida residents, this is the only way to safely dispose of unwanted medicine, as many counties do not have permanent disposal programs available.
To find a collection site near you, click here then click "Locate Collection Site Near You," where you can search by city, county or zip code.
