BRINGING OUR ZOOS AND AQUARIUM TO YOU

We’re sharing some of our favorite animal moments until we can invite you back to the parks to experience them in person. Turn your sound up and enjoy!
fly river turtle
Long time fans of the Bronx Zoo may recognize this animal: Freddie the fly river turtle! He’s been educating visitors about his species for over 50 years. Now, you can meet him virtually.
Spineless
We can’t help but show off some of the incredible animals at Spineless, our newest exhibit. Be sure to follow the NY Aquarium to make sure you’re getting the insider look!
otter cam
The NY Aquarium is dedicated to bringing you your weekly quota of sea otter goodness. Be sure to spend some time watching our live cam, generously provided by Bank of America.
gelada
We’re starting an (informal) petition to give geladas the award for best hair in the animal kingdom. We’ve got the proof for you, but if you disagree let us know in the comments.
anemone & clownfish
This week’s challenge: see if you can spot the clownfish among the anemone in the new Playquarium exhibit! Take a look and let us know.
In case you missed it, we want to wish a Happy Pride to all of the LGBTQ+ members of our virtual community! Wildlife is for everyone.

Latin People News LPN: City of Miami Beach Update on COVID-19, 6/30

Latin People News LPN: City of Miami Beach Update on COVID-19, 6/30: Tuesday, June 30, 2020 A ll persons in public spaces and places, both indoors and outdoors,  must wear a fac...

Tuesday, June 30, 2020
All persons in public spaces and places, both indoors and outdoors, must wear a face covering if social distancing is not being achieved, as defined in Miami-Dade County Emergency Order 20-20. Any person not wearing a facial covering is subject to a $50 civil fine. Click here to read the city’s amended Emergency Measures.

With the recent surge of COVID-19 cases and increasing hospitalizations throughout the State of Florida, the city continues to urge you to wear a mask, practice social distancing and wash your hands regularly. Now is NOT the time to let our guards down on proactive safety measures. We all need to be vigilant in doing the following:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Social distancing with members outside of your household
  • Wearing a face covering
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Taking personal responsibility. If you are sick with a fever, cough or viral symptoms, please stay away from others, including the work environment and crowded area

Transfusing the plasma that contains the antibodies into a person still fighting the virus can provide a boost to the patient’s immune system and potentially help them recover. Click here to learn more and how you can donate today.
