FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:     June 2, 2017 Contact Information: Cindy Gerhardt, President president@floridapta.org 407-855-7604 FAX 407-240-9577 www.floridapta.org  Today, Governor Scott announced his intention to veto the Florida Education Finance Program line item in the budget and called for a special legislative session to be held next week, June 7-9.  The Governor is asking for $200 million more for public education which would equate to an increase of $100.00 per student.   We would like to thank Governor Scott for listening to the people of Florida and for his continued desire to invest in our students.  Florida PTA comprises hundreds of thousands of families, students, teachers, administrators and business and community leaders devoted to improving the lives of children/youth in our state.
