FREE TONIGHT! Galang and Poethig: Songs for Women Living With War

The Betsy - South Beach welcome public artist Johanna Poethig and writer M. Evelina Galang, for a brainstorming event to discuss bringing the spirit of protest embodied by the Filipino "Comfort Women" of World War II to Miami. Join us as Galang and Poethig share their research, their process, and their vision of creating a traveling monument for all women who are survivors of war in its many forms.

SpeakOut, a LGBTQ teen spoken word project includes workshops in public high schools, slams and performances, and artist residencies. Andrea Assaf is a performer, writer, director, cultural organizer and the founding Artistic Director of Art2Action Inc.She returns for a 2nd year for this residency in Miami-Dade schools.

Orchestra Miami's most popular annual event returns! This year's concerts will feature Miami native Brian Neal, performing Haydn's classic Concerto for Trumpet, along with Beethoven's seldomly performed Symphony N. 1 in C Major, Op. 21.
Also on the program are selected "German Dances" by Beethoven and the famous Overture to The Barber of Seville by Rossini. The 42 musicians of Orchestra Miami perform, led by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi.

'Ground Control' is an exhibition of work by 11 international artists, in addition to two recent acquisitions by The Bass, whose genesis is the investigation of time and space. Comprised of outdoor and site-specific works that mediate between figuration and abstraction, 'Ground Control' curator Nicholas Baume brings together a selection of artists across generations and thematic interests who share a fascination with technological progress and human subjectivity.

The City of Miami Beach and Rhythm Foundation are proud to
announce that nine youth performers have been selected to perform as part of the inaugural Miami Beach Youth Music Festival!
"It was an honor to have music industry pros Steven Gibb, Gloria Gibb and Betsy Perez selecting the lineup for our Youth Music Festival," expressed Miami Beach Commissioner John Elizabeth Alemán. "The talent of the young artists is impressive, and
their job wasn't easy."
