Participants in the City of Miami Beach's Scott Rakow Youth Center summer camp program had the opportunity to meet and interact with Alex Morgan. Morgan shared useful tips about how to stay active and have fun doing it. She also read an excerpt of her new book, "Kicks: Sabotage Season."

Free Green Monkey Yoga Begins July 14

Feed Them, Don't Litter
Be aware of littering laws. If you are feeding stray animals, food cannot be placed directly on the ground including plants or leaves and sand dunes. Also when using plates, cans or other containers, these objects must be removed immediately. Do not trespass in sand dunes.

Contact Code Compliance at 305.673.7555 if you see any dogs off leash; any dogs owners failing to clean after the animal; littering; or any trespassing in sand dunes.

All residential buildings (apartments & condos) and businesses must have recycling programs. It is required by City Code. Contact your waste hauler or other recycling company to initiate a recycling program for your building or business.  

Tree Trimming Along Meridian Avenue
Continues through Mid-July, 8AM - 5PM

Maintenance pruning begins to the trees along Meridian Avenue between 2 and 16 streets. The work, which began June 23, is expected to take three weeks. Only one to two blocks will be affected by detours and parking closures on any specific day. Work begins at Second Street and moves northward. Notices will be posted on the day before parking closures.

Donate children's books (used or new and in any language) at book drop boxes located at all Miami Beach parks and community centers, City Hall, and Miami Beach Police Station.

Books will support the Children's Trust Read to Learn Books program where books are provided for free to children in the community at participating bookshelves.

Use Caution, Obey the Laws, Share the Road
Police Enforcement of Bicycle & Pedestrian Laws Underway Citywide
Motorists: When passing a cyclist, keep a three-foot distance between your vehicle and the bicycle. Look out for approaching cyclists before opening your car door when parked.

Cyclists: You must follow traffic rules of the road including traffic signals. Ride in the same direction as vehicles and yield when making turns. Yield to pedestrians when riding on a sidewalk. Register your bicycle

PedestriansObey all traffic laws. If no sidewalks are present, walk against the direction of traffic to see oncoming vehicles. Always use the crosswalk. Push the button to get the walk signal. Be visible. Wear bright, reflective colors on your clothes, shoes, belts and wristbands.

Miami Beach Residents Receive Parking Discounts | Register at Customer Service Center
No more feeding meters. Pay for metered parking from your mobile phone using the Parkmobile app only. Beware: Using the wrong parking payment app may result in a ticket.

Registered Miami Beach residents receive 43% discounts on metered parking and transaction fees are waived on Parkmobile app transactions. Residential zoned parking decal holders have automatically been pre-registered. All others can register at the parking department.
