City Hall Lit in Amber for National Memorial Tribute
Last Tuesday, January 19, City Hall took part in a national memorial for victims of COVID-19. January 20, 2021, marked one year from the confirmation of the first case in the United States. We have lost over 400,000 Americans to the virus in the year since. City Hall was washed in amber light, in their memory. At that night’s commission meeting, Mayor Brown stated, “At this same time there was a first-ever lighting of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. to honor those who have died, while church bells tolled across our nation for a collective moment of unity. and remembrance.”

Tax Season: Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
If your earned income was higher in 2019 than in 2020, you can use the 2019 amount to figure your Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for 2020. This temporary relief is provided through the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2020. The EITC helps low-to moderate-income workers and families get a tax break. If you qualify, you can use the credit to reduce the taxes you owe – and maybe increase your refund. Every year, millions of taxpayers don’t claim the EITC because they don’t know they’re eligible. Be sure you do.

New COVID Test Requirements for International Travel

New CDC orders require all travelers flying into the US to receive a negative COVID test result no more than 3 days before their flight. The CDC cannot provide testing information for your destination so be sure to check availability before your trip.
Moonlight Movies in the Park Series Returns
On Saturday, January 23, dozens of families enjoyed the return of our Moonlight Movies in the Park under a beautiful starlit sky to watch The Lion King. There are some new rules and a new venue due to COVID-19, but everyone enjoyed the movie and the time outdoors at Tequesta Trace Park.

Save the date for the next movie on February 20, featuring Trolls World Tour. View all of the upcoming movie dates and the movie-going guidelines at WestonFL.org/Events.
Where Can I Get a COVID-19 Vaccine?
If you are over age 65 or work in the health/medical field, you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida. Trying to find a location and register can be challenging until vaccines are more widely available, but the City of Weston has compiled a list of local providers and registration information for each site. (Updates to this information are made as we receive new information.)
