The Miami Beach Cultural Affairs Program, with guidance from the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, develops, coordinates and promotes the performing and visual arts groups in Miami Beach. To date, Cultural Affairs has awarded over $10 million in grants to approximately 130 diverse not-for-profit arts groups, which contribute so richly to the artistic landscape of the City, proving that the Council plays an integral leadership role in supporting, promoting and advocating the unique and extensive scope of cultural offerings in Miami Beach.

Fotomission and Tropicolor will host the 10th South Beach Photomarathon, an exciting event that is open to all who enjoy photography. Participants will be assigned six topics to photograph on South Beach over a period of six hours. The topics will be kept secret until the event day and are purposefully vague to give the contestants plenty of room for self expression. This event will be completely managed online.

The Cuban government turned away the St. Louis. After being refused safe haven in the United States as well, the ship returned to Europe.

Colección  Primavera - Verano 2014

Los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de disfrutar la Colección Primavera Verano 2014 de Filomena Fernández. Esta diseñadora venezolana con más de 30 años en el mundo de la moda, presenta una línea inspirada en conceptos únicos que define el gusto de la mujer latina en un toque de inspiración de la mujer asiática, haciendo hincapié en el minimalismo moderno.

El evento contará con la animación del grande en el escenario como lo es George Harris. La música estará a cargo de Fernando Gámez y se esperan otros invitados especiales que dirán presente en este evento.

Los fondos recaudados continuarán financiando programas de  ADS desde el Sur de la Florida. Cabe destacar que en el 2011 se graduaron en Venezuela los primeros 35 bachilleres del Centro Gustavito García Luján, y 50 niños de la segunda promoción del Centro de Masaya, en Nicaragua.

CORREDORES INMOBILIARIOS FELICITAN AL GOBERNADOR POR LA NOTABLE RECUPERACION ECONOMICA DE LA FLORIDA


En su página de Internet, floridarealtors.org, los corredores inmobiliarios de la Florida destacaron los logros del Gobernador Rick Scott. “Nos complace que los corredores inmobiliarios hagan eco del reporte de la UCF sobre la notable recuperación de la economía del estado y que hayan felicitado al Gobernador por sus políticas a favor de la creación de empleos y el fomento del crecimiento,” afirmó Jaime Flórez, Director de Comunicaciones en Español de la Campaña del Gobernador Scott. La Florida fue uno de los primeros estados donde se sintió el efecto de la recesión nacional, con pérdida de múltiples empleos a partir de abril del 2007, varios meses antes de otros estados, dio a conocer el economista Sean Snaith en su Pronóstico Económico de la Florida para el Primer Trimestre.   
La recuperación nacional comenzó en junio del 2009, pero la Florida se demoró a unirse a la tendencia, dice Snaith. Por varios años, permaneció atrás, a un paso más lento que el de la recuperación económica de los Estados Unidos.
No obstante, afirma Snaith, la Florida ya superó esa situación y ahora anda por delante de los demás.
“Este no es un logro pequeño,” señala Snaith. “Mirando hacia el futuro, la Florida extenderá su liderazgo sobre la economía nacional a lo largo de los próximos años, en la medida que esperamos que la economía de la Florida continúe creciendo a un ritmo más acelerado que el de la nación como un todo.”
Snaith pone a la tasa de desempleo de la Florida “entre las buenas noticias.”
Las tasas de desempleo han descendido de sus topes, en parte debido al bajo índice de participación de la fuerza de trabajo (59.6 por ciento en diciembre del 2013), y ellos esperan que continúe cayendo hasta el año 2017, proyecta Snaith. El ritmo de la caída se desacelerará dramáticamente a medida que reaccione el crecimiento de la fuerza de trabajo. A pesar de este significativo viento frontal, la tasa de desempleo, que actualmente está en 6.1% deberá descender hasta el 5.4% para finales del 2017.
De acuerdo con el Gobernador Scott, el estado ha creado más de 500,000 empleos nuevos en el sector privado desde diciembre del 2010. “Esto es medio millón de empleos en apenas poco más de tres años,” dice Scott.
El economista Snaith apunta también hacia otros indicadores económicos positivos. Dice que espera que los sectores que van a registrar los más sólidos promedios de crecimiento durante el periodo 2014-2017, serán el de la construcción (10 por ciento); servicios profesionales y empresariales (4.3 por ciento); comercio, transporte y servicios públicos (4 por ciento); educación y servicios de salud (2.3 por ciento); y esparcimiento y hospitalidad (1.8 por ciento).
Snaith también destaca que la construcción de casas reaccionó favorablemente en el 2013. En el 2014, proyecta se dará inicio a la construcción de más de 108,000 viviendas. Esta cifra crecerá a poco menos de 144,000 en el 2015, y llegará a 161,600 en el 2016, para seguir creciendo hasta 165,500 en el 2017. El economista de la UCF dice que el crecimiento en la actividad residencial catalizará el crecimiento en el sector comercial y empujará hacia arriba, hasta dos dígitos, el crecimiento de los empleos en el sector de la construcción.
Si bien el crecimiento de los ingresos reales de las personas decayó hasta el 1.8 por ciento en el 2014, se proyecta que crecerá. Entre el 2014 y el 2017, el ingreso real de las personas crecerá estable y aceleradamente y promediará 4.1 por ciento, con un crecimiento de 3.6% en el 2014, subiendo a 4.6 % en el 2017.
El crecimiento en el inicio de construcciones residenciales promediará 32.5 por ciento durante el período 2014-2017, con el crecimiento más rápido registrándose durante los años 2014 y 2015.
Las ventas al public crecerán a un promedio de 4.4 por ciento entre 2014 y 2017.
Los pronósticos de Snaith ofrecen predicciones hasta el 2017 para todo el estado de la Florida y, de manera individual, para 12 regiones metropolitanas: Orlando, Daytona Beach-Deltona, Gainesville, Ocala, Lakeland, Palm Bay- Melbourne, Pensacola, Miami, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Tampa Bay y Naples.
