The Miami Beach Cultural Affairs Program, with guidance from the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, develops, coordinates and promotes the performing and visual arts groups in Miami Beach. To date, Cultural Affairs has awarded over $10 million in grants to approximately 130 diverse not-for-profit arts groups, which contribute so richly to the artistic landscape of the City, proving that the Council plays an integral leadership role in supporting, promoting and advocating the unique and extensive scope of cultural offerings in Miami Beach.

On Wednesday, February 5th, ECOMB's Cinema Green Project will begin a three-month look at climate change, its importance as well as its relevance to Miami Beach and the South Florida Region. A total of four documentaries will be screened addressing subjects such as ocean acidification, hypoxic and anoxic zones, sea-level rise, ecosystem destruction, greenhouse gases, coral bleaching and beach/coast erosion.

Artists: Othón Castañeda, Rocío García, Eny Roland and Mario Santizo. In His Own Likeness primarily reaffirms existence, which in its diversity and complexity, is equally divine. Although, it does present us, in a somewhat provocative manner, an assortment of images of eroticized men alluding, rather than to God, to His gender-the masculinity attributed to Him-and as a result, to the power associated with the male gender.

The Wolfsonian-FIU presents a new site-specific exhibit, Untitled ([construction of good)] by artist Bhakti Baxter in The Wolfsonian Bridge Tender House beginning November 29th. The installation will take place in the steel structure created in the Art Deco style outside of the museum entrance. The focus of the exhibit will be on the construction of good for mankind, focusing on how the meanings of things are perpetually shaped by their human and historical contexts.

Primera pelicula de Jackie Guerrido

Luego de una ardua preparación, Jackie Guerrido da un nuevo paso en su carrera e incursiona en el campo de la actuación. La puertorriqueña, que lleva poco más de un año viviendo en Los Ángeles junto a sus hijos, comparte su trabajo en los segmentos de El Tiempo y Variety de Primer Impacto con la grabación de su primera película Awol72.

Awol 72 es un thriller  de acción, dirigida por Christian Sesna y protagonizada por Luke Goss, Bokeem Woodbine y RZA . Guerrido interpreta a la detective Rose, que quien estará en medio de un marine AWOL que posee un secreto del gobierno, el Departamento de Policía de Los Ángeles, y un peligroso asesino.
