Jessica Zalzman corriendo por Central Park, en Manhattan, Nueva York, este verano durante un viaje de visitas a universidades por toda la costa este.Ella pasó corriendo junto al Museo Metropolitano de Arte, el Museo Americano de Historia Natural, un santuario de vida silvestre y un zoológico, pegado extenso sistema del parque de caminar y correr rutas. La mamá de Zalzman, Luisa, había comenzado la carrera con Jessica, pero sabía que al final ella no sería capaz de mantener el ritmo. Llegar a los límites de su resistencia, Luisa dijo Jessica para seguir adelante. Escogieron un lugar para reunirse, cuando se hizo Jessica. Así Luisa esperó. Ella hizo flexiones.Ella hizo estocadas. Al azar, un desconocido tomó una foto de sus estiramientos haciendo. "Esperé y esperé", dijo Luisa. "Ella me deja. Ella se acaba de ir. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Aug. 16, 2013 SEA TURTLE NEST COUNT SECOND HIGHEST ON RECORD ~DEP staff and volunteers track and protect sea turtles during nesting season~ A sea turtle hatchling swims to the water at Guana Tolomato Mantanzas Research Reserve. TALLAHASSEE – Researchers at Florida's three National Estuarine Research Reserves are reporting that this year's sea turtle nesting season is boasting the second highest nest count on record at the reserves. Sea turtle nesting season begins in early May and extends to October 31. More than 1,800 biologists, interns and trained volunteers patrol Florida's 199 nesting beaches to identify, mark and monitor nests and evaluate nest productivity after the hatchlings emerge.  Researchers at Florida’s three National Estuarine Research Reserves located in Naples, Apalachicola and Ponte Vedra Beach gather evidence to track sea turtle populations and document the success of the nest outcomes. “Researchers, staff and volunteers at Florida’s three NERR’s play an important role in protecting sea turtles and helping to ensure hatchlings have the best chance for survival,” said Kevin Claridge, director of DEP’s Coastal and Aquatic Management Areas. “Florida’s NERRs are essential for the preservation of the state’s unique coastal landscape and the species that live there.” Early each morning during the season, staff, volunteers and interns with Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Naples patrol miles of sand along five beaches that account for nearly half of all the turtle activity in Collier County.  This year’s nesting activity is higher than last year. There are 461 documented nests in 2013 compared to 427 in 2012.   Researches at Guana Tolomato Mantanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve are reporting fewer nest compared to last year: 174 to 183. However, among these are 14 Atlantic Green Turtle nests. Green sea turtles are highly endangered and an increase in nesting is a welcome sign for its population’s health. At the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve, 226 nests have been caged by the patrols on 12 miles of beaches and two additional nearby islands. While nests can be inundated by high tides and coastal storms, the most serious threat is eggs being dug up and consumed or otherwise obliterated by predators, so the cages provide a needed defense.  Young turtles have a small amount of energy that must take them to the water,  which under natural conditions is the brightest spot on the nighttime beach. If they disorient – and head the wrong way – they may starve to death before landing in the floating sargassum weeds which are their food source. Tips to not disturb sea turtle nests: Take all personal belongings from the beach at the end of the day so no obstacles exist on the way to the water. Flatten sand castles and fill in holes. Pick up and properly dispose of litter on the beach. Stay off the dunes and use the designated walkovers for crossing. Shield any artificial lighting that might shine towards the beach.

White House Suspends Major Consumer Protection in ACA Many Key Features of New Law Delayed by White House (Washington, D.C.) - This week it was reported that the Obama Administration has elected to suspend another provision of the Affordable Care Act (also called Obamacare). Under the postponement, an annual cap on out-of-pocket expenses designed to protect insurance customers from high costs, will be delayed until 2015, even though some consumers may face thousands more this year to cover medical expenses. This Obama Administration had previously delayed Medicare cuts that were to ensure the law did not add to the deficit, much of the small business exchange, and the mandate requiring large employers to offer insurance to their workers. The Administration has also allowed Members of Congress and Congressional staff to receive substantial subsidies to purchase insurance, which are not provided to other Americans. The White House has not suspended the individual mandate, which requires Americans to purchase coverage or face escalating penalties. Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative released the following statement: "When Congress barely approved the Affordable Care Act on a narrow, party-line vote, there were some critical provisions needed to win support. It applied to Members of Congress. It required large employers to offer insurance. It included caps on consumer costs. It offered choices to small businesses. All of those features of the law - and others - have now been unilaterally suspended by the White House. Today a key advisor to the President even predicted that more unilateral changes will be made. This is unfair. The American people were sold a bill of goods - which is why they do not support it. If so many parts of the law are not ready to go into effect, the whole law should be delayed - until Congress and the President can fix it or repeal it."

Nunca entendí porque en mis opiniones a favor de la lucha por el rescate de Venezuela, siempre me abstengo de incluir al Indio Evo. 

Luego de leer el discurso adjunto más abajo, entendí que le tengo consideración por sexto sentido. 

Solo me resta decir que es difícil creer que Evo describa tan fino y preciso la verdad del saqueo a nuestra América Latina.

Exposición del Presidente Evo Morales ante la reunión de Jefes de Estado de los países productores de petróleo. Moscú (30/06/2013).

 

Con lenguaje simple, que era trasmitido en traducción simultánea a más de un centenar de Jefes de Estado y dignatarios de los países productores de petróleo, el Presidente Evo Morales logró inquietar a su audiencia cuando dijo:

 

"Aquí pues yo, Evo Morales, he venido a encontrar a los que celebran el encuentro.

 

Aquí pues yo, descendiente de los que poblaron la América hace cuarenta mil años, he venido a encontrar a los que la encontraron hace solo quinientos años.

Aquí pues, nos encontramos todos. Sabemos lo que somos, y es bastante.

 

Nunca tendremos otra cosa.

 

El hermano aduanero europeo me pide papel escrito con visa para poder descubrir a los que me descubrieron.

 

El hermano usurero europeo me pide pago de una deuda contraída por Judas, a quien nunca autoricé a venderme.

 

El hermano leguleyo europeo me explica que toda deuda se paga con intereses aunque sea vendiendo seres humanos y países enteros sin pedirles consentimiento.

 

Yo los voy descubriendo. También yo puedo reclamar pagos y también puedo reclamar intereses. Consta en el Archivo de Indias, papel sobre papel, recibo sobre recibo y firma sobre firma, que solamente entre el año 1503 y 1660 llegaron a San Lucas de Barrameda 185 mil kilos de oro y 16 millones de kilos de plata provenientes de América.

¿Saqueo? ¡No lo creyera yo! Porque sería pensar que los hermanos cristianos faltaron a su Séptimo Mandamiento.

 

¿Expoliación? ¡Guárdeme Tanatzin de figurarme que los europeos, como Caín, matan y niegan la sangre de su hermano!

 

¿Genocidio? Eso sería dar crédito a los calumniadores, como Bartolomé de las Casas, que califican al encuentro como de destrucción de las Indias, o a ultrosos como Arturo Uslar Pietri, que afirma que el arranque del capitalismo y la actual civilización europea se deben a la inundación de metales preciosos!

 

¡No! Esos 185 mil kilos de oro y 16 millones de kilos de plata deben ser considerados como el primero de muchos otros préstamos amigables de América, destinados al desarrollo de Europa. Lo contrario sería presumir la existencia de crímenes de guerra, lo que daría derecho no sólo a exigir la devolución inmediata, sino la indemnización por daños y perjuicios.

 

Yo, Evo Morales, prefiero pensar en la menos ofensiva de estas hipótesis.

 

Tan fabulosa exportación de capitales no fueron más que el inicio de un plan 'MARSHALLTESUMA", para garantizar la reconstrucción de la bárbara Europa, arruinada por sus deplorables guerras contra los cultos musulmanes, creadores del álgebra, la poligamia, el baño cotidiano y otros logros superiores de la civilización.

Por eso, al celebrar el Quinto Centenario del Empréstito, podremos preguntarnos: ¿Han hecho los hermanos europeos un uso racional, responsable o por lo menos productivo de los fondos tan generosamente adelantados por el Fondo Indoamericano Internacional? Deploramos decir que no.

 

En lo estratégico, lo dilapidaron en las batallas de Lepanto, en armadas invencibles, en terceros reichs y otras formas de exterminio mutuo, sin otro destino que terminar ocupados por las tropas gringas de la OTAN, como en Panamá, pero sin canal.

 

En lo financiero, han sido incapaces, después de una moratoria de 500 años, tanto de cancelar el capital y sus intereses, cuanto de independizarse de las rentas líquidas, las materias primas y la energía barata que les exporta y provee todo el Tercer Mundo.

Este deplorable cuadro corrobora la afirmación de Milton Friedman según la cual una economía subsidiada jamás puede funcionar y nos obliga a reclamarles, para su propio bien, el pago del capital y los intereses que, tan generosamente hemos demorado todos estos siglos en cobrar.

 

Al decir esto, aclaramos que no nos rebajaremos a cobrarles a nuestros hermanos europeos las viles y sanguinarias tasas del 20 y hasta el 30 por ciento de interés, que los hermanos europeos le cobran a los pueblos del Tercer Mundo. Nos limitaremos a exigir la devolución de los metales preciosos adelantados, más el módico interés fijo del 10 por ciento, acumulado sólo durante los últimos 300 años, con 200 años de gracia.

Sobre esta base, y aplicando la fórmula europea del interés compuesto, informamos a los descubridores que nos deben, como primer pago de su deuda, una masa de 185 mil kilos de oro y 16 millones de plata, ambas cifras elevadas a la potencia de 300.

 

Es decir, un número para cuya expresión total, serían necesarias más de 300 cifras, y que supera ampliamente el peso total del planeta Tierra.

 

Muy pesadas son esas moles de oro y plata. ¿Cuánto pesarían, calculadas en sangre?

 

Aducir que Europa, en medio milenio, no ha podido generar riquezas suficientes para cancelar ese módico interés, sería tanto como admitir su absoluto fracaso financiero y/o la demencial irracionalidad de los supuestos del capitalismo.

Tales cuestiones metafísicas, desde luego, no nos inquietan a los indoamericanos.

 

Pero sí exigimos la firma de una Carta de Intención que discipline a los pueblos deudores del Viejo Continente, y que los obligue a cumplir su compromiso mediante una pronta privatización o reconversión de Europa, que les permita entregárnosla entera, como primer pago de la deuda histórica...

 

Tras el vivir y el soñar, esta lo que más importa: despertar.
