Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in December indicates that the labor market remains strong and that economic activity has been rising at a moderate rate. Job gains have been solid, on average, in recent months, and the unemployment rate has remained low. Although household spending has been rising at a moderate pace, business fixed investment and exports remain weak. On a 12‑month basis, overall inflation and inflation for items other than food and energy are running below 2 percent. Market-based measures of inflation compensation remain low; survey-based measures of longer-term inflation expectations are little changed.

Consistent with its statutory mandate, the Committee seeks to foster maximum employment and price stability. The Committee decided to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 1‑1/2 to 1-3/4 percent. The Committee judges that the current stance of monetary policy is appropriate to support sustained expansion of economic activity, strong labor market conditions, and inflation returning to the Committee's symmetric 2 percent objective. The Committee will continue to monitor the implications of incoming information for the economic outlook, including global developments and muted inflation pressures, as it assesses the appropriate path of the target range for the federal funds rate.

In determining the timing and size of future adjustments to the target range for the federal funds rate, the Committee will assess realized and expected economic conditions relative to its maximum employment objective and its symmetric 2 percent inflation objective. This assessment will take into account a wide range of information, including measures of labor market conditions, indicators of inflation pressures and inflation expectations, and readings on financial and international developments.

Voting for the monetary policy action were Jerome H. Powell, Chair; John C. Williams, Vice Chair; Michelle W. Bowman; Lael Brainard; Richard H. Clarida; Patrick Harker; Robert S. Kaplan; Neel Kashkari; Loretta J. Mester; and Randal K. Quarles.

¿Nos estás prestando atención? ¡Bien! ¿Tienes el entrecejo fruncido? Aún mejor. Eso significa que has escuchado las advertencias acerca de los esquemas piramidales ilegales que se disfrazan de negocios de comercialización multinivel o MLM y prometen ingresos que cambiarán tu vida, pero que, en lugar de eso, se apropian de tu dinero.

El último caso de la FTC en el cual se acusó a una compañía de operar un esquema piramidal involucra a “Success By Health” (SBH), una empresa que, según alega la FTC, ha estafado por un monto de más de $7 millones de dólares a los consumidores que se sumaron como “afiliados” a su red de ventas.

De acuerdo a la FTC, SBH les dice a los consumidores que pueden reemplazar los ingresos que reciben por su trabajo en seis meses y alcanzar la “libertad financiera” en 18 meses vendiendo su café, té y suplementos dietarios y reclutando a otras personas para que hagan lo mismo. La FTC dice que, en realidad, la vasta mayoría de los afiliados de SBH le paga a SBH más dinero del que gana. 

En la demanda se alega que SBH presiona a los afiliados para que usen el monto límite de sus tarjetas de crédito, pidan dinero prestado a sus familiares, tomen préstamos bancarios o vendan o hipotequen sus casas para comprar inventario de mercadería y asistir a costosos programas de “capacitación”. Pero, según la FTC, el monto de dinero que ganan los afiliados se basa en la cantidad de afiliados nuevos que recluten y en la cantidad de inventario que compren ellos y sus reclutados y no en las ventas de los productos de SBH a clientes minoristas.

A petición de la FTC, una corte federal le ha ordenado a SBH que cese sus actividades ilegales mientras se tramita el caso. 

Si tienes previsto participar en un plan de comercialización multinivel, consigue los detalles. Comienza por hacer una búsqueda en internet ingresando el nombre de la compañía y palabras como review, scam o complaint, si haces la búsqueda en español, agrega palabras como comentario, estafa o queja. Desconfía de las descripciones de estilos de vida lujosos como resultado de la participación en el programa. Y si los promotores enfatizan que la verdadera manera de ganar dinero es reclutar a otras personas, abandona el lugar de inmediato. Eso es un sello indudable de un esquema piramidal.

Town Center North Overlay Public Engagement Project Re-envisioning Town Center North Overlay We want to hear how you, our residents, envision the future of the Town Center North Overlay. The Town Center North re-envisioning process is currently underway!  Throughout the last year, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has been working to solve a discrepancy in the Town Center District. You can read the complete history of the Town Center District discrepancy and the steps we have been taking to remedy the issue via the below link. Town Center District History Town Center North Overlay Scope In December 2019, the City Commission created the Town Center North Overlay through a Comprehensive Plan amendment. The Town Center North Overlay boundary consists of the westbound lanes of Sunny Isles Boulevard north to 172 Street, spanning east to Collins Avenue and west to the Intracoastal Waterway. We are now creating development guidelines for this newly formed area and this is your opportunity to share your input. Timeline The Town Center North re-envisioning process is currently underway. The first part of the process is key stakeholder interviews with elected officials, residents, property owners, and business owners. These will be conducted during January and February 2020. The next step is an Interactive Listening Session on March 10, where residents will be able to share input on what their vision is for the Town Center North Overlay. Upon completion, presentations will be available on our webpage at sibfl.net/towncenternorth and you will have the ability to submit additional comments or suggestions. Once all public engagement data has been collected, Calvin, Giordano & Associates will present their findings and recommendations for future development guidelines in the Town Center North Overlay to the City Commission during a public meeting.
