Flamenco Sephardit VII

 TEMPLE EMANU-EL  Miami Beach
1701 Washington Ave.
  Sunday, January 26th 7 :00  P.M.

Featuring a cast of international opera stars, guitarists, flamenco masters, and distinguished classical musicians.
Flamenco Sephardit
The show explores the connection between Ladino and Flamenco music, two distinct cultures born in Spain.  Ladino originated from the Jews who were exiled from Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. It emerged from the songs these exiled Jews composed in their adopted homelands using their old Spanish from the 1400s.
Similarly, Flamenco emerged from the cries and sufferings of the Moors, Gypsies, and Jews after they were banned from Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. Flamenco Sephardit explores similarities and differences in these two cultures.

Did you know that January is National Hobby Month? The beginning of the new year is a great time to pick up a new H.O.B.B.Y. that can keep you healthy and active all year long. Check out some of the activities and experiences you can have at a Florida State Park and make your reservation today to discover a new hobby for a new year!

Hike the Trails
Hiking can be a great way to get outdoors and explore! Some of the best hiking our parks have to offer can be found at O’Leno State Park, where there are 18 natural communities to discover along its trails. You can find sinkholes, flatwoods, sandhills, and creeks as you make your way through the park and walk alongside the Santa Fe River. Then, take a step back in time by crossing over the river on a landmark of the park: the unique wooden suspension bridge built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s!

 Observe some Wildlife

Observe Some Wildlife
Wildlife Viewing is one of the most popular activities found in Florida State Parks and at Big Lagoon State Park, it is easy to see why. A large variety of animals inhabit the park including rabbits, deer, turkeys, squirrels, and an assortment of reptiles and amphibians. What truly makes Big Lagoon a special place to view wildlife is the three-story observation tower that provides idyllic views of the coastal wetlands around you and provides an exceptional vantage point for birding. Every Florida State Park has different animals to see, so plan your trip to one today!

Be in the Water
Florida State Parks offer some of the most alluring springs, rivers, beaches, and lakes you can find. Why not pick up a hobby that gets you in the water? Fanning Springs State Park is one of many state parks you can find in Florida that offer numerous types of water-based activities. Take a refreshing dip in the springs or snorkel in the crystal-clear waters to get a glimpse of the stunning underwater landscape. Then break out your paddles and take a canoe or kayak up the scenic Suwannee River! If there is a water activity you’d like to pick up this year, dive right in and find a Florida State Park near you!

 Bring your tent

Bring Your Tent or RV
If you want to spend more time outdoors this year, there is no better way to do so than by sleeping under the stars. Florida’s state parks have full-facility campgrounds across the state to meet your camping needs, whether it is your first time or if you’re a seasoned camper. Colt Creek State Park is an example of one of our parks that offers exceptional camping amenities, including 27 full-facility campsites and 6 tent-only campsites nestled in the pine flatwoods. Make a reservation today and see how relaxing it can be to camp in the great outdoors.

Yearn to Learn
Looking to brush up on your Florida history? There are many one-of-a-kind experiences throughout Florida State Parks offering a glimpse into our state’s past and providing rich detail about the people and cultures that lived here before. At Torreya State Park, you can take a tour of the historic Gregory House and learn the history of how this stately southern mansion came to reside in the park and the impact the Civil War had on this region. Check out a Florida State Park near you to see what kind of historical experiences you can encounter!
